Stephanie Erwin


In addition to her role at Understory Strategies, Stephanie is an Affiliate Consultant with the Support Center for Nonprofit Management. Stephanie has over a decade of experience as a utility player in strategy, operations, and leadership across the nonprofit, social enterprise, banking, and policy sectors. She has worked with dozens of organizations to foster adaptive, strategic, and nimble thinking, strengthen governance practices, and develop strong integrated bottom-line revenue models.Stephanie specializes in entrepreneurial and futurist approaches to problem solving, which aims to maximize or right-size available resources towards meaningful impact. Her consulting expertise includes revenue and impact model assessments organizational assessments, strategic planning, workflow analysis, scenario planning, and other forms of capacity building and leadership development in moments of transition (executive searches & governance/board training).In addition to her consulting work, Stephanie is on the faculty of Bard College’s MBA in Sustainability Program, where she co-instructs the Entrepreneurship and Innovation course and previously co-instructed Personal Leadership Development. She is passionate about working with leaders at small organizations who are open to exploring new opportunities and approaches to thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.Stephanie holds an MBA from Bard College with concentrations in Circular Value Chain and Impact Finance, as well as an MS Certificate in Environmental Policy. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and French Language from Seattle University.
